Smell Me, Like Me, Love Me

In this exciting new world of social networking hype, speed dating and match-making websites, it's not exactly a shock to find out about the buzz around pheromone perfumes. These products, with versions each specifically designed for men and a counterpart for women, are believed to increase the possibility of getting the attention of or inducing the attraction from the opposite sex when worn or sprayed on strategic parts of the body like the neck or the wrist.

The prospect of easily asking out someone on a date without too much effort does sound pretty impressive. Pheromone perfumes used to be an unknown. But with constant promotion from the television and print media, there was an increasing awareness of these "magic love potions". Before long, they were out in the market with its followers continually rising in numbers. They now come in different brands, each claiming to have the highest percentage of synthesized pheromone additives. You won't exactly see them too often in the shop's display windows like those wholesale perfume brands would be found, but if you try and check it out from your usual boutique, pharmacy or cosmetics shop, you just might chance upon them. A majority of pheromone perfume brands, we observed, are sold online. On their websites, you would usually find a product introduction page, a testimonial section, some product demos and, of course, the order form.

These products just might be the extra kick that the men and women of the shy type need. They say pheromone perfumes make the wearer more attractive and irresistible to the opposite sex. Their promoters also advise that aside from wearing them, one would have to show cues of being "approachable" for it to work. Otherwise, seeming uninterested would only send off the wrong signals and conflict with the "effectivity" of the product. All in all, it's still on a try-it-to-believe-it status.
