How much does it cost? You give your prospect this big long spiel on your great product and the only thing they can think to ask afterwards is "How much does it cost?" I don't know about you, but if somebody came up to me and said that they had a pill that I could take that would make me look like Clark Gable, I wouldn't care how much it cost if all I ever wanted to do was look like Clark Gable. Now, I'm not saying that every purchase should be made regardless of the price, but some things are a given. But maybe not. In that case, sticker shock can sometimes work wonders when trying to make a sale. How? Keep reading and you'll find out how a big ticket item can bring in big bucks even if you sell it for a lot less.
I recently created a product that was just flat out the best thing since Moses parted the Red Sea. There was no way this thing wasn't going to sell, regardless of what kind of price I put on it. Well, I looked at other competing items and decided that the price I would sell it at would be in the low three figures. I had no doubts that it would sell. When I told people what was in the product, they'd say things like, "Wow, that's pretty awesome." Yes, it is awesome, if I have to say so myself. But then they'd ask me how much it was and when I told them, they almost hit the floor, and not in a good way.
Shock Me Like
Sticker shock almost killed them.
Well, this went on for quite a while. So I tried just lowering the price. But that didn't work either. I couldn't understand why. And that's when I finally figured it out. The problem was that they didn't have the initial shock of the higher price to make them appreciate the lower price I was offering the product at. So what I started to do was present them with the higher price and then, after a period of time that they'd be on my list, I'd finally break down and offer them a one time shot at getting the item at a reduced price. I'd usually hold the sale for about 24 hours. Well, don't ask. The sales started coming in like crazy. Why? Because the perceived value increased due to the original price of the item now being known. With the lower price, they really could see that they were getting a real bargain.
If you have a big ticket item and it's not moving, try sticker shock. Used in this manner, it should bring you a boat load of sales.
To YOUR Success,
