Avoid writing about multiple themes. Keep your content simple and talk about a specific topic like religion, women or poverty. If you have to include multiple themes, make sure that the transition between topics is smooth and clearly marked so that the listener can understand the sudden change. Do not try to include rhyming words at the cost of ruining the lyrical flow. Don't forget that rhymes, structures and other techniques should only support the song and not destroy it. And it's good to be detailed about the content and environment of the song.
And as stated in the classical unities, describing one main theme in minute detail is of more help writing song lyrics than talking superficially about multiple themes, because you may fail to create ripples in the listener's mind if you lack the required amount of depth.
