No Bark Collar - Looking for an Alternative to Shock Collars?

There are definite solutions to dog with barking problems. The device is called a no bark collar and when you purchase one and use it on your dog, the idea is the collar will prevent your dog from barking. A low volt shock, when you choose the static collar type, is released whenever the collar's device senses your dog barking - over time, that dog will hate the static so much it won't bark anymore. A static collar is one of the most popular and most effective ways to discipline a dog with a barking problem; but fears about using them on dogs persists - these collars are said to actually harm pets, despite the absence of conclusive proof behind that claim.

Electric stimulation by collar - how it affects dogs

Shock

A bark collar releases one of three stimuli, depending on the type - a harmless spray, a low volt shock, an ultrasonic sound; the static collar is one of these. Only dogs can hear the tone released by a sound collar - it's too high up the range of normal human hearing. In some studies, the effectiveness of all three types have been compared; the result is that the sound type seem to lag behind the static and spray type, which are tied for effectiveness.

There are various videos only showing people allowing themselves to get shocked by collars, to supposedly demonstrate the pain. The "skit" usually follows the same pattern - someone holds a bark collar linked to a wire fence buried underground. When the step outside the boundaries they get shocked. Those people could be just over-acting, no matter how candid the claim that none of it was edited.

The level of current delivered by a collar, and this is what some dog owners find hard to accept, is no more harmful than the static one feels when rubbing one's feet across a carpet.

The level of shock stimulation can be adjusted

There's also a feature among static or shock collars that allow owners to adjust the level of stimulation a pet in training is to receive. Usually this starts with the lowest level. Upon the dog owner's observation, if the dog has gotten used to and is barking despite the level of shock, the stimulation level is to be increased. It's important to note that the static shocks stop immediately when the dog stops barking. Don't worry because the buzz stops as soon as the dog stops barking.

The spray type collar as a good alternative to static shocks

There's always some unfounded or vague fear linked to the use of static collars - the worry is correct, but the basis are often not so well-founded. The foregoing are but info gathered on the static collar; there's nothing wrong with still choosing another kind of collar. There are other types of no bark dog collars out there, ones that do no use a shock as stimulus. It's always a great thing to have many options. Take note here that the spray type of collar, the most common of which is the Citronella variety, is said to be just as efficient as the static type of collar.
