No Bark Collar - Looking for an Alternative to Shock Collars?

There are definite solutions to dog with barking problems. The device is called a no bark collar and when you purchase one and use it on your dog, the idea is the collar will prevent your dog from barking. A low volt shock, when you choose the static collar type, is released whenever the collar's device senses your dog barking - over time, that dog will hate the static so much it won't bark anymore. A static collar is one of the most popular and most effective ways to discipline a dog with a barking problem; but fears about using them on dogs persists - these collars are said to actually harm pets, despite the absence of conclusive proof behind that claim.

shocks

Electric stimulation by collar - how it affects dogs

Shock

A bark collar releases one of three stimuli, depending on the type - a harmless spray, a low volt shock, an ultrasonic sound; the static collar is one of these. Only dogs can hear the tone released by a sound collar - it's too high up the range of normal human hearing. In some studies, the effectiveness of all three types have been compared; the result is that the sound type seem to lag behind the static and spray type, which are tied for effectiveness.

There are various videos only showing people allowing themselves to get shocked by collars, to supposedly demonstrate the pain. The "skit" usually follows the same pattern - someone holds a bark collar linked to a wire fence buried underground. When the step outside the boundaries they get shocked. Those people could be just over-acting, no matter how candid the claim that none of it was edited.

The level of current delivered by a collar, and this is what some dog owners find hard to accept, is no more harmful than the static one feels when rubbing one's feet across a carpet.

The level of shock stimulation can be adjusted

There's also a feature among static or shock collars that allow owners to adjust the level of stimulation a pet in training is to receive. Usually this starts with the lowest level. Upon the dog owner's observation, if the dog has gotten used to and is barking despite the level of shock, the stimulation level is to be increased. It's important to note that the static shocks stop immediately when the dog stops barking. Don't worry because the buzz stops as soon as the dog stops barking.

The spray type collar as a good alternative to static shocks

There's always some unfounded or vague fear linked to the use of static collars - the worry is correct, but the basis are often not so well-founded. The foregoing are but info gathered on the static collar; there's nothing wrong with still choosing another kind of collar. There are other types of no bark dog collars out there, ones that do no use a shock as stimulus. It's always a great thing to have many options. Take note here that the spray type of collar, the most common of which is the Citronella variety, is said to be just as efficient as the static type of collar.

New French Horror to Shock Audiences

The core of horror films has always been one of evolution and innovation. From Hitchcock's black and white masterpiece, Psycho, to more modern pieces such as the Scream franchise, North America (read as: Hollywood) has always been at the forefront of the horror industry.

shocks

However, over the past few years, independent foreign horror films have been washing up on American shores and treating the public to a truly new and terrifying experience; the French, specifically, are now considered to be on the cutting edge with their new favourite style of horror.

Shock

The new wave of French horror has been classified as 'splatter film,' or more colloquially on internet movie forums as 'torture porn,' due to their incredibly graphic and violent content, which is managing to shock even the most desensitized of audiences. These films are filled with all kinds of chaos and carnage, trying to push the envelope of how far a film can go.

The following are some of the more popular of French Splatter Films.

(1) Haute Tension, 2003 (High Tension)
The first of the modern line up of splatter film, High Tension, directed by Alexandro Aja, shocked audiences with its graphic nature, as two female protagonists are hunted by a serial killer with a unique agenda. Also known as Switchblade Romance in the UK, this film has been edited heavily to avoid the NC-17 rating in America.

(2) Frontieres, 2007 (Frontiers)
Xavier Gens film, Frontiers, is a chaotic and disturbing experience, as three young thieves try to hole themself up in an abandoned building, only to find that it has been inhabited by a gang of sadistic, neo-Nazi followers. This film is also not for the faint of heart.

(3) A l'interieur, 2007 (Inside)
Alexandre Bustillo's Inside is a claustrophobic and menacing film that has been highly praised for its to do so much with so little. Contain only two main characters and a handful of extras, this film have been considered to be one of the finest within the splatter film genre. No synopsis can be given without revealing spoilers, unfortunately.

(4) Martyrs, 2008
The latest in the line of new wave French horror is Pascal Laugier's Martyrs. Since its release at the Cannes Film Festival it has been critically acclaimed, and is managing to draw new audiences to this emerging genre. Do be warned though, this film is incredible disturbing to watch, with violent scenes that are not easily forgotten. You have been warned.

This new breed of 'transgressive' French horror films is certainly making waves on an international level. Some ask whether the super violent nature of the films is too much for American audiences, whilst others argue that these films are opening new doors for creating thought and innovation in a somewhat tiring genre. Either way, however, they are certainly something completely unique, and after viewing just any (or all!) of the above films, you'll have a true appreciation on just how far a film can go, and how far an audience can be pushed.

Write Lyrics? Simple - The How to Write Lyrics Beginners Guide

How to write lyrics is one of those ephemeral subjects. Some teachers utilize poetry forms but really, the two - poems and songs - are not the same thing. That's not to say that lyrics and poems can never be swapped, or used first one way and then the other. In fact, when my children were small, if I came across an anonymous poem which they really enjoyed, I often set it to music. Some poems are like ballads, and some ballads are also poems. There can be much switching, swapping and sharing. Another aspect of How to Write Lyrics being a difficult subject to teach to others is whether or not the student reads, writes or plays music, and also what type of instrument they play. It is one thing to write lyrics to music played on the piano or guitar for example, and quite something else if you play flute or trumpet.

adele lyrics

In my previous article How Do You Write Lyrics? I suggested one way for the absolute novice to get a feel for how to fit words to a tune, is to take a well-known song and change the lyrics. Traditional tunes are often best for this technique but not necessarily the only ones. Any tune you know very well, like and is similar to what you want to write will do. Here are a couple of examples:

Lyrics

Original Lyrics: Yankee Doodle

Yankee Doodle went to town

Riding on a pony

Put a feather in his cap

And called it macaroni

New Lyrics:

The rain fell heavy from the sky

As heavy as my hea-rt

The sun went down when she left town

And left me on my o-wn

This tune is basic, well known and has simple lyrics, which I've replaced with simple lyrics. I've also made a couple of other changes to show you how to do it. The original song is bouncy, happy (regardless of its original political connotations); but the new song is sad and heavy despite the tune. Also, in the original song the lyrics all have one beat, but in my new song, the second and fourth lines finish on a single word with two beats.

Here's another example:

Original Lyrics: A Hard Day's Night (Beatles)

It's been a hard day's night

And I've been working like a dog

It's been a hard day's night

I should be sleeping like a log

But when I get home to you

I find the things that you do

Will make me feel all right

New Lyrics:

I saw him standing alone

Old and coughing in the frost

His coat ragged and torn

Skin worn hollow by the cold

With no home or family

The streets are all he has

Does anybody care?

You'll notice in the new lyrics, the rhythm is not identical. This is usually something which happens naturally and will lead you on to writing originals of your own, whether you are a musician or not; or even if you sing or not. The last line - Does anybody care? - could make the start of a chorus or refrain. That too often happens naturally.

Once you have a basic idea for a song, think of a tune or similar song and see how it affects the mood, aids the telling of the story, paces the rhythm and then apply that to your own writing. Again, you can start with a suitable tune and start adjusting it as your lyrics and song develop.

Whether you want to rise to the top of the charts, compete with Andrew Lloyd Webber or just have fun, writing lyrics is not as hard as it seems. It takes practice, trial and error and like all writing, determination.

Don't just throw something together though and decide that is good enough. Occasionally, number one hits have been quickly put together, but that's rare. Work on your lyrics. Change the words around, move the verse order, experiment with your rhythms and melody, change the key, and keep fine tuning until you have more than you thought you could have.

Most of all have fun. And maybe get the family involved. It's more fun than watching TV and is a change to board games. So come on, give it a go. It's time to write your lyrics!

All About Culture Shock - A Brief Introduction on Why We Experience Culture Shock & It's Symptoms

What is Culture Shock?

shocks

Culture Shock is a term used to describe the anxiety and feeling (of surprise, disorientation, confusion, fear, etc.) felt when people have to operate within an entirely different cultural or social environment, such as a foreign country.  It is a very unpleasant, yet very common experience one goes through when in a foreign country.

Shock

Getting used to the new culture, the new surroundings, weather, people, systems can be very challenging. The feelings of lack of direction, lack of deep emotional connection to your surroundings, lack of friendships, relationships, financial worries, means of transportation, etc are just few of the many things a person going through culture shock has to experience. This experience can cause severe emotional and physical discomfort.

Deeper Reasons On Why We Experience Culture Shock

Culture shock is a normal reaction to change. When you move from one country to another country, change is experienced at many levels: Social, Financial, Health, Cultural, Weather, Lifestyle, Relationships etc...

We are overwhelmed by changes at so many levels, and hence we experience a shock. Some people deal with this shock directly, some deny it, and some are not even aware of it.

If nothing is done to resolve the culture shock, we may develop attitude and behaviors that would control our success and happiness for rest of our lives.

Regardless of whether or not we accept it, humans are resistive to change. Change takes conscious effort.

This resistance adds up to the shock. The stronger is our resistance to change, the heavier is the culture shock we experience.

Charles Darwin, the father of theory of evolution, is very well known for his remarkable research: "It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change." This clearly shows how important it is to adapt.

Over the course of history of mankind, evolutionary psychologists have studied the human adaptation and have pointed out that human beings adapt for two primary reasons: Survival Advantage or Reproductive advantage. But in modern society, neither of these two threats is relevant anymore. So we have developed a very strong resistance to change.

Instead, human beings value comfort and security of routine life so much that change is perceived as the biggest threat. Our irrational fears limit us from exploring and reaching our full potential.

When a shuttle takes off, it uses up 90 % of its fuel just to get out of earths gravity. It's the basic law of nature that most of the energy is consumed in the initial phase of new process. Once the momentum is gained, it is easy to make the progress. The strongest form of Culture shock is experienced in the initial phase because that phase requires the fundamental level of shift in all areas of life.

Symptoms of Culture Shock

Here are some of the typical symptoms of culture shock:

·         Sadness, loneliness, depression

·         Anger, increased irritability

·         Loss of Identity, sense of self

·         Lack of confidence

·         Feelings of insecurity, Excessive fear of being robbed, or injured.

·         Great concern over minor pains and skin irruptions

·         Allergies, Aches

·         Terrible longing to be back home

·         Confusion, unable to solve simple problems

Stages of Culture Shock

As Dr. Carmen Guanipa (San Diego State University) points out, there are several stages of this experience:

Honeymoon Stage: Everything is new and exciting. One enjoys the excitement of being in a new place and new culture.

Transition Phase: This phase is one of the hardest phases of culture shock. This is when all the communication difficulties arise, and one goes through strong feelings of dissatisfaction. This is typically when reality of being away from home, in a foreign culture hits the person.

Evaluation Phase: This is when one experiences the feelings of direction and psychological balance. Evaluation of old vs. new cultures takes place and slowly and gradually, one starts the process of accepting the new culture.

Integration Phase: In this phase, one starts experiencing the feelings of belonging and adapting new cultural beliefs. New culture is slowly and gradually accepted and is internalized as one's own culture. This is the phase when one starts feeling the part of whole. Integration phase is typically the end of culture shock and beginning of a life as part of the new culture.

All About Culture Shock - A Brief Introduction on Why We Experience Culture Shock & It's Symptoms

Shock

G Shock 6900

The G Shock 6900 was one of the earliest, if not the very first of the Casio G Shock watches. The term is now used for a whole range of different watch models with the same face layout, but a wide variety of features and styles for men and women, boys and girls.

shock mount

The G Shock 6900 has a rectangular digital display for the time, date and a variety of other features. Above the rectangular display are three circles, sometimes referred to as eyes, which indicate the passing of seconds, minutes and hours.

Shock

The G Shock is famous for its shock resistance and it is water resistant to 200 metres. It includes a stopwatch and countdown timer as well as an auto calendar that is good until 2099, which should be long enough for most of us. Other standard features you can expect are an EL backlight with an afterglow, a flash alert for the built in alarms, hourly time signal and countdown timer. Twelve and twenty four hour time format displays and a battery that lasts on average two years, but in the solar powered models will usually last the lifetime of the watch.

The solar powered 6900's have solar cells subtly built into the face. These cells collect power from the sun or any other light source and store it in the rechargeable battery. Once charged the watches can run for long periods without exposure to light. So you never have to worry about the watch losing time and you can feel confident that you are making a small contribution to the health of the planet by opting for solar power.

Also included in the range are solar atomic models. As well as running on solar power these watches synchronise with atomic clocks around the world, so that they always display precisely the right time.

Apart from the wide variety of case and wrist band colours, the G Shock 6900 also has a wide range of face colours and types. They come in neutral colours, black and mirror/metallic looks and a choice of colours that may match or contrast the case and wrist band.

There are 6900's with military, durable designs as well as more stylish looks that can be worn anywhere. The DW6900SB with a black mirror face, red display and a gray case and band is a favourite of mine.

The GLX6900 is one of the G-Lide series, which include tide and moon graphical displays and are widely used by surfers, fisherman and other marine sports enthusiasts. The face comes in a range of luminous colours which contrast with the black case and wrist band.

G shock 6900's are available in a wide range of bright fashionable street colours that can really make you stand out. Check out the yellow, white and purple models. The GLX6900XA is designed for action sports enthusiasts, and Hawaiian street wear. It is based on a reggae culture theme. Red, yellow and green unite in perfect harmony and golden rays adorn the watch face. Turning on the EL backlight causes the words "ONE LOVE" to appear on the display, which expresses a message of world peace. The words "One Love" obviously come from the Bob Marley song of the same name.

So, as you can see, one face design extends to a vast range of models and there should be one to suit everyone.

G-Shocks For Sale - Hi-Tech Style Or Hip Hop Fashion Fad?

In 1983, Casio designed the G-Shock with one goal in mind - to create the world's toughest watch. It's features included a highly unique look, precise time (including the second, minute, hour, day, and month), and triple protection for the parts, module, and case. Prior to this, it was a common notion to think of a wristwatch as a flimsy piece of jewelry that should be handled with care but, this unconventional piece of technology seemed to break the mold.

The G-Shock's versatility and functionality was the direct reason for it's almost immediate popularity. It began to be worn by police officers, outdoors men, and military personnel - on and off the battle field. But, most recently, the watch has been adopted by surfers, skateboarders, musicians, and Hollywood A-lister's - basically, those fascinated with today's latest fashion trends.

Shock Me Like

The urban fashion scene has seen many fads come and go over the years, mostly due to the fact that it seems to ignore classic style. It was almost inevitable for the bright colors of the late 80's and baggy pants of the mid 90's to fade with time but, one trend that has transcended every decade is the jewelry. Whether it's the huge gold chains from the 80's or the "bling bling" from the late 90's and on, there's always been a watch as the ultimate accompanying accessory.

Style and function has always been key in the G-Shock's design so, why wouldn't it be admired by the "In Crowd?" It's unique look could complete any number of stylish ensembles. Although G-Shocks where originally designed to be reliable and inexpensive, this circle of people tend to prefer high end models costing upwards of 0 - 0. Some artists even go so far as to get their G-Shocks custom made with the face of the watch covered in diamonds.

Consequently, the newer G-Shocks are designed to target today's youth with more stylish designs than the earlier models of the 80's. Colors like white, red, pink, and yellow have been added to the arsenal of watches to spice up the already trendy designs.

Although unorthodox, the G-Shock has proven it's self to be a little piece of classic style. Casio has become a staple in the fashion industry and will continue going strong with almost three decades of unique designs under there belt.

How To Create Article Headlines That Tickle, Stimulate, Shock & Provoke

When you take on the task of creating headlines for your articles, there's one thing you always want to keep in the forefront of your mind: If your article isn't rich in content and/or it's all too obvious that the catchy headline is there for the sole purpose of drawing traffic to your post, you'll end up doing more harm to yourself than good!

The line between a creative article title and a tacky one can often be blurred. The key is to always make sure you DELIVER: No matter how wild it is, the headline still has to make sense in its own way; it has got to RELATE to the content. The last thing you want is to make your readers feel like you think they're so dumb they can't tell the difference!

Shock Me Like

With that said, here are a handful of my favorite attention-grabbing techniques:

A. Promise Value

Headlines that promise value often start with "How to": What you do is you announce to your reader that you're going to give away some incredibly invaluable tips on how he can succeed in a particular area of his business or personal life. These types of headings are often enhanced with an intriguing, definite number.

Some examples would be:

"How To Attract Women Like A Rock Star", "13 Ways To Defeat Information Overload", and "How To Replace Your Income In 67 Days".

B. Make a Specific Promise to Your Reader in Return For Their Time

"Give Me Just One Hour, And I'll Forever Change Your View On Network Marketing", "Give Me Three Days, And I'll Teach You How To Dance Like A Las Vegas Showgirl".

A variation of method A, ("Promise Value"), this type of headline holds a strong guarantee, and it's an extremely effective way to draw your reader's attention. A word of caution though: Make sure you're always able to back up your claim and deliver exactly what you promise!

C. Announce An Underdog Success Story

"They Didn't Think We Could Win the Game, But We Did!", "They Laughed At Me When I Stepped Up To The Microphone, But Not When I Started To Sing!", "My Friends Chuckled When I Submitted My First Article, But Their Laughter Changed To Amazement When My Piece Was Featured!"

The above are what I like to call "beat-the-odds" headlines. They reason they work so well is because we humans are enormously fascinated by personal success stories - especially those where it's the "little guy" that hits it big.

A variation of this is the "How I/we/he/she/they..." headline:

"How I Went From Waiting Tables To Millionaire Status in Less Than 24 Months", "How Sharon Lost 95 lbs, Won Back Her Husband, And Was Named Teacher Of The Year."

D. Announce That You Have A Secret Or A Warning

Headlines in this category target human emotions such as curiosity and fear:

"Secrets Of An Award Winning Novelist", "Seven Secrets To Success In PPC Advertising".

You don't have to be ten years old to love a secret! Your grown-up reader is intrigued by them, too!

Similarly, with "warnings", what you do is you evoke concern, anxiety, even fear in your reader:

"Warning: Read This Before You Book Your Trip", "Don't Shop At Wal-Mart; Here's Why".

None of us wishes to be duped, cheated or to make fools of ourselves. So, if someone claims there is a good chance we will, but that THEY can help us avoid it, we're likely to give them our attention!

E. Entice Your Reader With "Hot" Names Or Topics

"Lessons In Leadership: What You Can Learn From The Hillary Campaign", "What Britney Spear's Career Has Taught Me About Marketing Overkill", "If You Watched 'The Secret', You Must Read This!"

In our celebrity-obsessed culture, famous names have an almost unmatched ability to catch our eye. Additionally, when we are under the impression that there's something important going on, we want in on the news. If everyone's "talking about it" - be it politics, sports, sitcoms, or whatever - we want to be "talking about it" too! Heaven forbid that our friends would regard us as ignorant or "behind the times"!

Therefore, if you are able to incorporate some hot names or topics into your headlines (in a way where it doesn't appear disingenuous), you'll find that this will draw a lot of added attention to your writing!

Well, there you have it - those are some of my favorite "eyeball-grabbing" techniques when it comes to creating article headlines! Now go make them work for YOU!

Shock Me Like

Kids cameras have to survive hard knocks, big bumps and drops from top of the stairs, fights and much more. Do you think any of your high-priced cameras can survive that kind of treatment? Surely not. But kids' digital cameras can survive these and still work well. Some of the best in the business come from Vtech, Fisher Price and Playskool.

2. They come in attractive colors.

These compact digital cameras for kids come in a variety of attractive colors. Blue and pink are the usual themes for boys and girls. Other colors are bright oranges, purples and greens. With hard rubberized exteriors, and easy grip handles, many of these cameras are both water and shock proof. They are not very pricey either. Most are available for around .

3. They have cool designs.

Vtech Kidizoom cameras and Fisher Price Kid Tough cameras have award-winning designs and have been Amazon top-sellers in kid's cameras category. These cameras have been designed with kids in mind and so all the features are essentially are so simple and easy that even a 2 year old can operate them with no problems though it is not meant for them.

Buttons and knobs that can be operated by small hands and features that will appeal to kids make these cameras good buys for kids. Encased in tough bodies these cameras will not break even when dropped from heights and hence are shock proof.

4. They are not very expensive.

Buy older kids an adult camera that can take some knocks. Kid's cameras are usually very basic and the picture quality is poor with a zoom of less than 4x.

An average 7 year old has taken some pictures on a parent's camera or used the camera feature in mobile phones. They know that picture quality of their kid camera is crappy and they will not be happy with the results that they get out of one. Also, they won't have much patience for fuzzy, blurred images that come out of them. So, a low priced advanced camera may be a better bet for older kids.

5. They are less bulky.

Adult digital cameras which are also child-friendly will be less bulky, have better optical zoom, more picture resolution and other features that produce better quality images. Buy your kid a compact model which has good user reviews and ratings but isn't very expensive. After all kids outgrow their fancies and their interests keep changing. The D series from Nikon are good entry-level models for kids. The latest in this range is the D60 and is good value buy.

Of course if you are not comfortable with giving them these higher end models by all means start off with the shockproof digital cameras like Vtech KidiZoom or Fisher Price Kid Tough and watch your kids have fun documenting their adventures. You and your kid can have hours of fun reviewing their photos and videos.

Survive the Shock, Fear, Anger of a Lay-Off by Reaching Out

With the national economy and world economy stretched to the breaking point, some people are facing layoffs in record numbers. This is yet another way that individuals and families are being forced to reevaluate their priorities. If you are a recently laid off employee, it may not feel like a layoff is your choice, but it certainly is an opportunity to reevaluate your life direction. Once you get past the shock, fear and anger of a layoff, you can begin to think through what you are going to do next.

But getting past the shock, fear and anger are not easy. Your safety is being challenged, as are your illusions that you are in control of your destiny. The first step in dealing with the crisis of a layoff is to get busy. Engage in activities that you do have control over and mastery of. If you don't have a job, create one for yourself. There are always long neglected house projects that you can get into. Perhaps this is the time to spend more time with the kids such as extra help with homework or coaching them on a sport or musical skill. If you have been lagging behind in your community service, roll up your sleeves and make yourself available to your favorite charity. This is also a time to catch up on much needed time to yourself. Catch up on your reading, sewing, crafts and hobbies. Teach yourself to play the piano. Build a Zen garden. In other words use your creativity to prove to yourself that you do have value.

Shock Me Like

It is not best to search for a new job while in the emotional throes of shock, fear and anger. You will come across in job interviews as neurotic. Better to give yourself a chance to cool down and come to terms with this life change. The idea of getting busy with projects is to prove to yourself that you do have value. The layoff is an economic fact, not a demonstration of your value as a worker or a human being. Rarely are people laid off during these times because they are incompetent. Hard working, competent employees are hard to find, train and keep. Just ask any employer. So the layoff is a result of economic hardship or perhaps your employer's miscalculation, but it is unlikely that it is a result of your innate value. So give yourself a couple of weeks to a month to come to grips with this change in your life.

Once the sting of being rejected wears off, you can get down to the serious work of re-evaluating your priorities and finding the job that best uses your talents. Even if you took a voluntary layoff, you need time to adjust to the change in your life. Maybe you don't feel as rejected as the surprise layoff, but you are still out of a job. If you jump into a new job too quickly you may find that you wish you would get laid off again. Use this time to ask yourself some important questions about where you want to go next in your life. Here are some sample questions to get you going:

1. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up? Could you still pursue this goal realistically?

2. What aspect of your childhood dream could you pursue? If it's not realistic financially or geographically could you still pursue some of it on a volunteer basis to give you a sense of following your destiny?

3. What have people always told you, you were good at? How could this be fashioned into a new career?

4. If you really loved the job you lost, where else could you work that has a similar position? Don't be too quick to move geographically. There may actually be another employer who is hiring.

One mistake that recently laid-off people make is to hide away from others. This isn't the time to do that. In fact this is the time to ask others for help. Tell them what you are looking for. Ask them for feedback about your goals. Ask them to tell you what your strengths are. Always ask them for names of people who might be in a position to help you. When you reach out to others like this you are sending the message that you are of value and expect to be appreciated and hired. An added bonus is that people like to help. Helping you makes others feels as if they are doing their part. It's nice to feel needed, especially by a competent individual has courage enough to ask for advice.

What is Electric Shock?

We all know that electric shock occurs when electric current flows through your body. Electric shock merely startles you or it is fatal. Voltage itself may have little to do with it. Voltage (V) is a measure of electrical potential and current (amperage) is a measure of electron flow rate. Knowing this now we can say, it's not the electrical potential (voltage) that affects you, it's the flow of electrons (current) through your body that does you wrong (electrocute).

shock collar

Other factors that determine the extent of electric shock injury include. The amount of Resistance your body gives to current that flow through your body. Secondly the path the current takes and finally the length of time it travels. People can have different resistance to current flow in there body but here is some general measure of effects of different current levels measured in amperes to your body.

Shock

Less than 1/2 milliamp no sensation
1/2 to 2 milliamps Threshold of perception
2 to 10 milliamps muscular contraction
5 to 25 milliamps painful shock (may not be able to let go)
Over 25 milliamps Could be violent muscular contraction
50 to 100 milliamps Ventricular fibrillation
over 100 paralysis of breathing.

You can see that there is a high occurrences of death around 25 milliamps up to about 100 when passed through the heart. We all understand why the low amperage will scrambles/confuses your neurons (electrical pathways) in your body that are transmitting information, thought, touch, motor control etc, this stop proper body muscle contraction even to the heart(Ventricular fibrillation). But why if it is over a 100 milliamps does it not necessarily kill you?. Well it turns out, you tighten up so much, that your chest holds your heart still until the power is released. At that point your heart may actually restart -The down side is that the rest of you is not really in good shape. May cause muscles tear up even bone breakages and boiling of the blood?

In fact higher the voltage the lower the current, but usually higher voltage will carry more current when traveling through a path. If you find this inconceivable, then explain how people survive lightning strikes and dead birds don't rain from the power lines.

Diseases of the Pleura II - Pleural Shock, Tuberculous Plueral Effusion and Empyema

PLEURAL SHOCK
The patient develops vasomotor collapse on puncturing the pleura. Inadequate local anaesthesia may be a predisposing factor. Urgent resuscitatory measures include the injection of adrenaline, parenteral steroid, and intravenous fluids. Pleural shock may be fatal, if not recognized in time.

shock cord

Bleeding into the pleural cavity is from vessels on the Pleural surface. Bleeding should be suspected when the aspirated fluid becomes progressively blood-stained. In sever cases, hypovolemic shock may ensue. When bleeding is evident, it is advisable to stop the procedure. Entry of air inadvertently during aspiration converts a simple pleural effusion into hydropenumothorax. Rarely subcutaneous emphysema or air embolism may develop.

Shock

Pulmonary edema occurs in some cases of chronic effusion when the lung expands with removal of the fluid. Slow aspiration and restricting the volume of fluid aspirated at one sitting to 1 liter helps in reducing these complications. Onset of pulmonary edema is heralded by troublesome cough with frothy expectoration. Auscultation reveals the presence of rales. Onset of pulmonary edema is an indication for stopping aspiration. Further management is on the same lines as for acute pulmonary edema. Pleural effusion which is a part of generalized edema, clears up when the underlying condition is treated. Unless there is respiratory embarrassment, paracentesis is required only for diagnostic purposes.

TUBERCULOUS PLEURAL EFFUSION
Among the known causes of pleural effusion in Africa and Asian subjects, tuberculosis still tops the list. The pleura may be directly involved by the tuberculous process. In most cases it spreads from an underlying pulmonary focus and the effusion is almost always on the side of the pulmonary lesion. Sometimes a caseous subpleural focus may rupture into the pleural cavity or the pleura may be the seat of miliary lesions. In the majority of cases the classic adolescent pleural effusions is a postprimary tuberculous phenomenon though rarely it may occur in primary tuberculosis. The effusion may develop rapidly or insidiously. Most cases reveal strongly positive tuberculin test. The fluid is an exudate. The cells are mainly lymphocytes. Tubercula bacilli are difficult to demonstrate in serous effusions. Culture and animal inoculation may be positive. In tuberculous empyema, the organisms are most easily demonstrable. Needle biopsy is helpful, but this is not required in the ordinary case.
Management: Standard antituberculosis treatment is started. Pleural aspiration is done electively. Repeated aspiration may be required to make the Pleural cavity dry. Respiratory physiotherapy is essential to restore function promptly. Use of corticosteroids (Prednisolone 15-20 mg/day) helps in hastening recovery and preventing pleural thickening.

EMPYEMA
Collection of pus in the pleural cavity is called empyema. Pus may be free in the pleural space or loculated. Empyema may result from the extension of infection from the underlying lung, or it may complicate chest injuries, thoracentesis, or generalized pyemia. Pneumonia, lung abscess, bronchiectasis, tuberculous cavities, hepatopulmonary amoebiasis, bronchogenic carcinoma, osteomyelitis of the ribs, fungal infections and actinomycosis are all common causes. Thoracic and upper abdominal surgery may lead to empyema. Common bacterial flora include streptococcus, staphylococcus, Pneumococcus, Pseudomonas, Klebsiella, H.influenzae, anaerobes, M. tuberculosis, and actinomycetes.

Clinical features: All ages may be affected, but children suffer more. Onset is marked by high fever, pleuritis or dull chest pain and dry cough. Physical signs of pleural effusion may be evident. Unlike as in simple pleural effusion, the chest wall becomes edematous (broncho-pleural fistula). In this case, postural cough is a troublesome symptom and the findings are those of pyopneumothorax. The pus may work its way outside and point on the Chest wall. This is called empyema necessitans. Left-sided empyema may pulsate due to transmitted pulsation from the heart-"pulsating empyema".
Radiologically, the findings closely resemble those of pleural effusion. Demonstration of pus in the pleural cavity by aspiration confirms the diagnosis. The causative organism can be identified by examination of the pus. Clinically, a large lung abscess may resemble an empyema or encysted pyopneumothorax and these two conditions have to be differentiated. Fever, toxemia and digital clubbing occur in both. Shift of the mediastinum to the opposite side and stony dullness on percussion are in favor of empyema. Special radiological techniques may be necessary to differentiate them. In a loculated pyopneumothorax, the air-fluid interphase may transgress anatomical boundaries of lobes, whereas a Lung abscess is limited by the interlobar fissures.

Complications of empyema include severe toxemia, cachexia, anaemia, pulmonary fibrosis, pleural fibrosis, metastatic brain abscesses and in longstanding cases, secondary amyloidosis. The overall mortality is 10-11%.

Treatment: After determining the infecting organism, antimicrobial treatment is instituted. The fluid has to be removed by aspiration and this measure is essential to allay fever and toxemia. When the pus is too thick to be aspirated. or if it re-accumulates rapidly, under water tube drainage has to be established after rib resection. Clearance of the pleural space and full re-expansion of the lung may take several weeks to complete. Though antibiotics used to be instilled locally into the pleural cavity with adequate systemic chemotherapy, this measure is not essential. Thick pus which is difficult to be aspirated can be liquefied by the instillation of proteolytic enzymes like streptokinase and streptodornase. In most cases, chemotherapy and surgical drainage are adequate to clear the empyema. Rarely an intractable empyema may have to be excised surgically.

Toxic Shock Syndrome Awareness

There was a lot of press about Toxic Shock Syndrome back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, however nowadays you never see much about it, aside from the little leaflets you may find inside of a tampon box. Toxic Shock Syndrome, or TSS, is most commonly associated with tampon use, specifically the use of super-absorbent tampons, and it remains a fact that about half of all TSS cases are tampon related. What you may not know is that Toxic Shock Syndrome can affect anyone - men, women and children. Aside from tampon use, Toxic Shock Syndrome has also been associated with the contraceptive sponge and diaphragm, cuts, scrapes, a blood infection called septicemia, surgical wounds, and even chickenpox blisters.

shock collar

Toxic Shock Syndrome is classified as a systemic illness, meaning it affects the entire body. It can be caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria (commonly referred to as Staph), which produce toxins. Another bacteria, Streptococcus pyogenes, which is even more rare, is another cause of TSS. People who cannot fight these toxins become sick. Although this condition is rare, it can be a dangerous and potentially fatal condition.

Shock

Signs and symptoms of TSS develop very suddenly. Symptoms can include: Sudden high fever of at least 102 degrees Fahrenheit, a drop in blood pressure which may be associated with fainting or feeling faint, sunburn like rash, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, muscle aches, fatigue, weakness, dizziness, confusion, and pale, cool, clammy skin.

You should call your doctor if you experience any of the symptoms of Toxic Shock Syndrome, especially if you are having your period or if it has just ended and you have been using tampons. Doctors typically diagnose TSS by doing a physical exam and conducting blood tests that assess liver and kidney function, in order to rule out any other possible conditions. If they determine that it is TSS, treatment could involve hospitalization and antibiotics.

The best way to prevent tampon associated TSS is by using the lowest absorbency tampon possible and by alternating tampon use with the use of sanitary pads. Change tampons frequently, at least every four to eight hours. If you use tampons when sleeping, try to remember to change to a fresh one just before bed and change it as soon as you wake. It is also a good idea to store your supply of tampons in a cool, dry area, since the heat and moisture of a bathroom are breeding grounds for bacteria. If you have had TSS before, you should not use tampons.

Hand washing is very important in preventing the spread of bacteria that causes TSS and other infections, so try to remember to take extra care when washing your hands, especially during your period, and always wash before changing your tampon. Wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and antibacterial soap, scrubbing for a full 15 seconds before rinsing and drying. Taking just a few precautions can help to prevent your chances of getting TSS.

Stock Brokerage Firms

Stock brokers play a crucial role in trading of shares at exchanges. Not only can they themselves buy and sell shares on a day-to-day basis; they are also allowed to let others use their accounts for undertaking similar transactions. This facility provided by stock brokers is used by both sub-brokers and small investors. Web-based share trading has further helped multiply transaction volumes at exchanges, in turn pushing their capitalization to stratospheric levels. The growing depth in the stock markets has attracted more capital, helping maintain liquidity in the markets.

shock cord

Anyone who is looking to invest in the stock markets might well benefit from these brokers. A specific commission is charged by stock brokers for services provided by them to their clients. The chargeable commission rates may vary, depending on the package of services offered by brokers. Some just offer basic transactions to their clients. Others may offer a few services beyond the trading facility, such as contract negotiations. Then there are the big brokering houses, which offer a wide range of value-added services in addition to the basic trading facility.

Shock

The type of broker that will really suit your requirements depends on the level of investment you plan to make. If you are a beginner to the stock markets, you may be better off using market intelligence provided by stock brokers. In addition, you can also turn to your broker whenever you need advice. Stock brokers are always there to guide you. You can rely on inputs provided by your stock brokers because, besides the advantage of hands-on experience, they are also well-supported by in-depth market research. Their analysis is very incisive because of their involvement in long-term market trends, in addition to their understanding of possible trends for the near future.

Experienced stock market investors do not need any specialized market intelligence to make decisions, and so they can manage without the help of a big brokering house. In fact, they often prefer to act on their own instincts, rather than on any "expert" advice. Accordingly, they can also save on commissions payable to brokers and improve their profit margins.

Crumbling Like A Cookie When "Closing" The Deal?

Hey there cookie.

Recently I sent out a survey to my Divalicious subscribers asking them what their single biggest challenge was in selling.

Shock Me Like

And whoa - I received hundreds of answers from all over the world.

One of the biggest challenges that came up again and again?

Closing.

Hey - I've been there!

Years ago, when I first got into sales, I thought...

" Hey - I'm a nice person, I have a great product/service and I offer amazing customer service.

People will buy from me like crazy."

(have you ever had the same thought?)

Wellllll...selling doesn't work like that (which you may have already discovered)

I discovered it too. (I think that's when I had the habit of crying in my car every day from all the REJECTION!)

The Word CLOSING Is Stale And Dry!

First of all - the word CLOSING is a left-over word from the Old Boys Club. Closing meant heavy pressure on your client, lots of phone calls and tons of volume.

The client was treated like a number and quite frankly - no one likes to be treated like that.

However, somewhere down the line you've been taught the word CLOSING with all of its nasty, "Herb Tarleck, Donald Trump" images. (If you don't know who Herb Tarleck is then I just dated myself!)

Think Of Closing As Opening The Lid To The Cookie Jar

Look.

Wondering WHEN the client will buy from you?

It all starts with changing your thinking from CLOSING to OPENING.

Opening a relationship with a potential customer.

4 Calorie-Free Rules To Follow:

* Clients Don't Come Out Of The Oven Immediately. So you think after 1 meeting, 1 phone call, 1 e-mail that they should be pounding down the door? Wrong. On average it takes 5 -9 contacts before someone buys. I bet you're dropping out of sight between 1-2. (PLUS- has the customer expressed permission for you to contact them?)

* If You Don't ASK For A Cookie - You Won't Get One. "Closing" means ASKING. If you don't ask for the business, or give too much away at the beginning - then WHY SHOULD THEY BUY from you? Right now there are people who WOULD BUY FROM YOU if only you asked them!

* Know When And What They Want From The Bakery. Do you know your client's needs and wants? Do you know if they are even a good fit for you? Do you know if they have a sense of urgency for purchasing your product or service?

* Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk. So the client said NO? That's OK. Why did they say NO? And also remember - a NO doesn't mean forever - it means just for now. Don't chase your client and think they will say YES as they won't. However, don't fall off the radar either. They aren't rejecting YOU - they just aren't convinced you're the best choice. Believe me - its different!

Remember Lady - Being In Sales Is About Asking For The Dough!

Here's what I believe.

If you are offering something a client finds valuable then you deserve to be paid for it.

That's it.

You cannot be successful in sales, or be successful in business if you act like the Pillsbury Dough Boy and hide behind insecurity and giggle a lot.

It doesn't show me that you're confident in your product or service. It doesn't show me that you're the best choice.

It just shows me that you're a COOKIE CUTTER COPY of everyone else.

And I KNOW you're NOT.

Do you?

What Goes on Inside Modern Shock Absorbers?

Shock absorbers, or struts, play a very important part in every vehicle. It is the core part of every suspension system, which was why they must be periodically replaced to ensure superior performance. In the past, they were mainly composed of a cast iron rod, a sturdy coil spring that envelopes it, and finally the tube where this assembly are encased. The composition of modern version, however, is very much different. Several parts now make up a single absorber to ensure a smooth ride all throughout. So what goes on inside modern version that it seem to be doing a better job than old ones?

shock collars for dogs

If in the past, shock absorbers are composed of less than five parts, most modern ones today is composed of more than ten parts, moving in unison to give you a smoother and quieter ride. Some of these are the valve, spring, main rod, piston rod, piston, tube, and the cap. Each of these parts has their own separate functions, but all working in a way that translates to a great suspension system.

Shock

The valve is assembled separately and also has its own small parts, each playing a role to allow it to function properly when it is finally assembled with other internal parts. The piston ring assembly is also another interior part which is composed of the assembled valve, piston rings and coil springs, piston rod, and cap. This assembly will be placed on the first working chamber of a shock absorber and helps in giving compression to the second working chamber.

The main coil spring is then placed inside the tube casing, along with another plethora of parts, then the main rod follows and is held in place by a series of hard plastic holders. This would now form the lower chamber of the shock absorber. The piston and valve assembly is then put on top of the second working chamber and sealed so that there will be no air inside to allow for maximum compression. This assembly would now work hand in hand, albeit with separate functions, to accord the passengers of a vehicle total convenience and comfort.

As you now know, there are a lot of small parts that are put inside a shock absorber tube. The biggest proof of this are the several chambers inside every shock absorber, and those chambers have also their own assembly of gadgets, all working together to give you a smooth ride all throughout.

Continual Weight Loss Depends On Your Ability To "Shock" Your System

The human body is an amazing thing. It has the ability to adapt very quickly to changes,
in order to maintain homeostasis. This is quite commonly seen when trying to lose weight.
Many people hit that dreaded plateau, which fortunately, can be avoided if continually
shocking the body.

shock absorber

I preferred to shock my body in two different ways. Firstly, by my diet, and secondly, by
my workouts. This was one of the number was contributors to my rapid weight loss over the
course of 6 months. Here's a few tips to keep your body "shocked" so that you can keep it
guessing and shedding weight.

Shock

1. If you've changed your choice of foods to a healthier option and tend to eat a lot of the
same foods day after day, at least once a week I'd suggest eating something different. This
can be a healthy or a non-healthy alternative. I for instance always had a great big cheeseburger
and French fries from my favorite fast food establishment every Sunday.

What this does is make sure my body doesn't get too used to the same types of food,
essentially "shocking" it to lose more weight once I start eating healthy again the next day.

Don't take this one overboard though, your only wanting to shock it a little bit, one meal a week
is generally enough.

2. Whenever I have a long grueling workout, I always try to think of ways I can switch it up a little bit so that my body doesn't get too used to the same workouts, which can also induce a plateau. Most days I'll choose to jog for a couple miles, while other days I'll decide to hop on my local track and do sprints. Both leave me exhausted, but work out your muscles differently. In the weight room I mainly did heavy weight lifting to gain strength, but a couple times a week I would decrease the weight, and increase the intensity, giving me muscle blasting workouts.

Remember that shocking your body is a good thing and keeps the weight coming off as rapidly as possible!

Shock your penis into growth using one technique

Shock

It's a well known fact that natural enhancement works with exercises and a fantastically balanced diet, but what's not well known is that you can actually trick the penis into growing faster by using small but very effective techniques called "trick and pulls".  Used by industry professionals to trigger gains of up to one inch in a week you will be sure to get started on the right foot in no time at all.

The reason this routine works is because it uses the three main chambers in the shaft which are called the Corpus Spongiosus, this forms the under carriage of the penis and also the glans, and the Corpora Cavernosa, which are two smaller chambers of tissue located next to each other on the upper part of the penis.  Now what it does is shock these chambers into releasing a lot more blood and oxygen which then pumps into the head, this in turn then circulates around back down to the shaft and the process continues.

How to perform the "trick 'n' pull" technique

Ok so to start using this routine all you need to do is perform two tasks, the warm up to get everything ready and then the actual technique using both hands.  To warm your little guy up, all you do is soak a cloth in a cup of hot water for two minutes, remove it and cup around your manhood, then leave for 4 minutes until warm.  Make sure your ready before starting, once ready cup your fist and place half your penis into the cup of your hand, grip and pull to the left so everything stretches and your fist is then touching your leg, do this again on the other side so your fist touches the other leg with you penis in hand.

Do this for around 5 minutes and then stop.  Once you have rested for 2 minutes, take the shaft of your little guy and slap it against either leg, so that you loosen the blood flow and increase oxygen levels.  Do this 20 times and that should be enough.  The above should be performed on a daily basis in the evening as you are more likely to see better gains at this time in the day.

Dog Training Shock Collar Pros And Cons

A shock collar is a type of "control tool" used to correct a dog's behaviour, but are they safe and effective? Learn more in this article.

shocks

Your dog has some outrageous behaviour - it doesn't like children or maybe any visitors? Or perhaps it keeps using the house as a toilet? It never seems to listen to you? So maybe a shock collar could be the answer?

Shock

A shock collar is one of a family of what are called control tools. They work by giving negative reinforcement to a dog's behaviour. Then the dog will learn and over time it should stop doing the bad behaviour.

Pros

These collars can be very good for overly aggressive dogs that are not responding to traditional methods. For example, a mistreated but strong dog that won't listen to you. Sometimes, these collars can save the dog from otherwise being put to sleep.

The effect of a mild electric shock is just a small discouragement to the dog but enough to show that bad behaviour is not tolerated. It is no worse than a quick "clip" from a dog's mother.

Cons

They are not a magic bullet or cure. If they are not used correctly then they will be of no use to you. Make sure you get good training on how to use one and when to use a shock collar.

Some dog trainers argue that dog training shock collars are antiquated and totally unnecessary. They say that with a dog, you can always create a reward or punishment for any behaviour and a dog will always learn.

Some people say that any electric shock, no matter how small, is a form of torture and cruelty.

Shock Report - Do You Really Need That Anti-Spyware Software?

The phenomenal rise of the internet has created a massive global industry with many thousands of spin-off cottage-style industries tagging along for the ride. Business is booming and many, many people have made an awful lot of money from it. In addition to this are the many thousands of ordinary people who now make a comfortable living from the internet. Everything would be fine and dandy, except for the unfortunate fact that wherever a large group of people can found making money at something, a small group will always be close behind leeching off them. These are the scam artists, spammers and get-rich-off-the-back-of-others-quick merchants. Between them they have created more problems for honest business people than any other online influence.

shock doctor

One of the more recent annoyances has been the sharp rise in so-called spyware.

Shock

What followed could only be described as either a mad panic, or a cleverly crafted get rich scheme which has worked a treat! The doom-mongers and conspiracy theorists between them managed to spread so much fear about possible personal data theft and "Big Brother" watching people's every keyboard click, that people were ready to clutch at the first thing that came along that promised it would protect them from this evil scourge. Enter the skilful programmer set and before too long anti-spyware software had been developed to combat this affront to people's privacy and the even more skilful marketers were selling these new anti-spyware programs to all and sundry.

Anti-spyware programs were selling like hot cakes.

So let's look past the hype and scaremongering and take a step back for a moment. Take a deep breath. That's good.

Now we can ask a very pertinent question. What exactly is spyware and do we really need to be so worried about it? More to the point, do we really need yet another piece of software in the form of anti-spyware eating up our CPU's runtime to protect us from something we know very little about?

Let's take the first question first: "What is spyware?"

Let's give as concise an answer as is necessary in order to understand what spyware basically is. Well, firstly, spyware comes in many forms. The more simple forms are cookies set by websites to save you having to enter details like your user name or log-in details every time you visit a site. More sophisticated cookies can track your surfing movements and can be very useful for affiliate marketers by keeping track of links you may have clicked on. These are very important if you buy a product online that you were directed to by a trusted affiliate, as that is how the vendor knows who to pay the commission to. Incidentally, by blocking these cookies using anti-spyware software, your trusted affiliate will lose their commission because the vendors will not know who sent you to their website. That commission is then kept by the vendor. You don't get a discount!

More sinister forms of spyware also exist in the form of keystroke tracking software that can actually track every keyboard entry you make. This information is gathered by massive servers and decoded for use by the criminal underworld, by which means they can learn personal details like your home address, social security number, online banking login details, passwords etc. This type of spyware is more suited to the term Trojan horse, which is used to describe certain information gathering software inaccurately labelled as a virus.

So do we need to be so worried about spyware?

Yes and no.

Yes if one of the Trojan varieties is contracted, as there is the risk of personal data being harvested by the criminal fraternity. This data could potentially be used for all manner of illegalities, not the least of someone stealing money from an online bank account, or committing other fraudulent crimes using someone's data.

No if you there are a few, or even a lot of cookies sitting benignly on the hard drive making your internet surfing activities a little easier by saving you having to key in certain repetitive information every time you visit a website.

Is there an in-between?

Life is not all in black and white and neither is the question of the severity of spyware. Of course there is a grey area that lies in-between the simple benign cookies and the aggressively malignant Trojans or actual data-threatening viruses. Some sophisticated cookies are able to track your surfing and online shopping habits and relay that information back to advertisers and the like so they can better initiate their next effective advertising campaigns. Campaigns that are directed right back at you, the consumer. Naturally, they want to know where you surf and shop most often so they can tailor their advertising to maximize their profits.

Is that ethical?

Well, maybe or maybe not, but that's business!

Is it an invasion of privacy?

Yes.

Is it malevolent, sinister or dishonest?

Well, no more or less so than that supermarket loyalty card that you carry around with you. Think about it. If you were truly concerned about "Big Brother" watching your shopping habits, just think about how much personal information is harvested from you every time your card is swiped at the checkout!

So that brings us to our last question: "Do we really need anti-spyware software running on our computer at home?"

Now, savvy Linux users are rarely bothered by this problem and Mac users are also less likely targets for malicious software attacks. So this question is really directed at Windows users and let's face it, the vast majority of people online are.

Taking the worst case scenario, that of contracting a Trojan or virus, you would be right to be concerned enough to ensure that you have anti-spyware software running to block them gaining access to your hard drive. But look again at your task-bar. What's that little icon over there in the right corner? That's right! It's your anti-virus program humming quietly away in the corner there! You do have anti-virus software running on your internet-connected computer, don't you?

Anti-virus software is there in order to take care of all the malicious insurgents, including Trojans and the like, so it that respect, it acts as anti-spyware too. So what about the other, less harmful stuff? Those benign cookies, for example, which sit there in order to make your surfing experience a little less difficult. It is true that many anti-spyware programs will block cookies from being set on your computer, in the name of protecting you from spyware.

But you can just as easily block cookies using your own browser settings for free.

So why exactly do you need to spend more money on anti-spyware software that has been created in response to scaremongering and propaganda tactics? Why indeed, especially when the tools to do the same job are already sitting there in front of you.

Aggressive Vs Defensive Stock Investing

Aggressive stock investing means taking greater risks. The risks can take numerous forms. You invest in highly volatile market when the fluctuations in prices defy all the techniques of analytical and fundamental research. There are rises and falls in prices of stocks which occur contrary to the investors' expectations. There are daring and imaginative investors who manage to make money even in these uncertain circumstances.

shock pump

Another form of aggressive marketing is that you invest in stocks which appear to be 'gone cases' according to popular calculations. But quite contrary to all the wise counsel, they show high growth and deliver rich dividends. Of course, they may also fall further down since they are already gone cases.

Shock

On the other hand, you invest in some stocks like Wal-Mart, fully aware that they are costly and their price may not rise in near future. Few people know that buyers of such high value stocks do not invest in them to make money through the rise in their prices, but rather these companies pay rich dividends to their investors year after year so that they become a source of their regular income and livelihood. The dividends paid by such blue chip companies almost nullify the high prices of their stocks which people pay to buy them.

There is no doubt that those who dive deeper into the ocean either come out with invaluable gems or just lose their lives.

But Aggressive investing is not everybody's cup of tea.

Defensive approach

As a part of the defensive approach, some people recommend that the best investment option is government treasury bonds. They argue that since you buy a debt obligation of the United States, you can be sure that you are going to get paid. All that government needs to do is to raise taxes or sell off assets to pay its debts.

This, however, is not an approach of an entrepreneur who believes that you cannot make money without incurring certain amount of risk. A defensive approach, therefore, does not mean not taking any risk at all, but simply means taking affordable risks and deriving optimal returns at the same time. It must be understood that risks in stock trading are neither higher nor lower than in any other business.

An ordinary stock investor, especially the one who is a beginner should have a defensive approach and be careful while trading in stocks.

A slow, cautious and conservative approach may not yield high profits in the beginning. In fact the profits may appear to be negligible, almost discouraging at the initial stages, but they can turn out to be phenomenal over the time. You will appreciate their value when you retire. This approach exemplifies the truth that slow and steady wins the race.

So as a defensive stock investor, you should calculate how much money you can easily spare every month without cutting down your essential expenses. Consult your stock broker and also do your own research to find out which stocks you should invest. It is always advisable to invest in stocks that yield high dividends. If you can easily pull on with your existing resources of income, the best option is to go for dividend reinvestment plans.

Through time, stocks with dividends yield higher returns than long-term treasury yields. Not only are the dividends higher in stock investment, but they also get favorable tax treatment. Dividends from stock investments attract a maximum of 15% Federal tax rate while the income from treasury bonds, although exempt from state and local taxes, can come in as high as the 35% tax bracket. Moreover, you get the capital gains generated from an increasing stock price. [It is like having a cake and eating it too.] Don't know if this analogy is necessary.

The high dividend yielding stocks protect you when the market goes down. As the stock prices fall, the dividend yield rises because the cash dividend can exceed the buying price of a share by a large percentage. It can be illustrated by an example: You buy a 0 stock of a company with a dividend which is 2%. Suppose the price of the stock falls by 50%, the dividend yield would go up to 4 %.( this is arrived by dividing by and multiplying by 100.). What often happens is that the dividend paid by certain companies goes so high and attracts buyers in such large numbers that its stock price is driven high even during a fall in the market.

Casio Atomic Digital Watch, A Look at Casio G Shock

Casio have been around for quite a while now. From its inception in April 1946 by Tadao Kashio the company has continuously produced innovative products. I had a quick read through the history section on the Casio website (over a coffee) and came across a picture of 14-A, the first all-electric compact calculator conceived in 1957. Have a look at the size of the thing! Who in their right mind called that compact, its a bloody desk! Launching their first watch in 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. This alone screams to me that from the beginning Casio are no late or early adopters, they are innovators.

shock absorber

It just goes to show how quickly we have advanced over the last half century. We now have atomic digital watches with built in calculators, barometers and solar technology that sit nice and snug on our wrist. I was cleaning my room last Monday and I just happened to find my old Casio Illuminator. It was put into one of my junk drawers. I think everyone has a junk drawer where all the stuff you don't want to throw in the trash ends up. Ironically, in my opinion, they are like a look back in time themselves providing a reminisce of past bed room cleans. To my surprise, the battery still had live and it hadn't lost to much time.

Shock

So whats the Casio product range? I think Casio have hit the nail on the head with their range of digital watches. They have a watch for every category of person. Whether you are the sporty type that spends your weekend climbing mountains in Himalayas or just a casual general Joe that sips beer watching reruns of Family Guy (like me). Furthermore, every category of watch comes packed with functionality that you may or may not use. The development of the Casio G Shock watch depicts a very interesting story, which I will briefly discuss.

Casio G-Shock watches are the pinnacle of tough watches. We don't realize how much time and effort Casio have put into developing this type of watch. Not to mention the time spent on product testing. Well not that people need to care anyway. They are truly a work of genius. The designers at Casio wanted to engineer a digital watch that would never break. Guided by a "Triple 10" development concept, the design teams sought a watch with 10-meter free-fall endurance, 10-bar water resistance and a 10-year battery life. Empirically watches are thought to be breakable items for some reason. Maybe due to early watch development that focused mainly on function, that is keeping the time, and watch endurance was not really a priority within the design specification. This meant that earlier watches were fragile pieces of jewellery that when dropped or put beneath water would simply break.

During the development life cycle of the Casio G Shock technology, there were 200 experimental prototypes built for endurance testing. I think that is astounding! That is rather large number of prototypes. To me this seems that the guys at Casio did not have a set in stone picture of what the final G Shock product watch would look and function like. Although, innovation is a challenging business which typically involves a great deal of trial and error. Furthermore, the structural re-engineering of parts took approximately two years. The fruits of this epic achievement brought a revolution in time piece design.

By always employing the latest technology, and continuing to re-design the conventional function of the watch, the G Shock brand has become Casio's flagship watch product.

Does Penis Thickness Really Matter For Sex? - The Answer May Shock You

Men have always been fixated on getting a longer member, since the beginning of time. But this fascination may just be to satisfy their own ego and not the sexual needs or wants of their women. Thickness is actually perceived to be more important to women than length. And this statement is not just wild assumption either, it is in fact scientific fact. Researches in the United Kingdom, found that 90% of women prefer a thicker penis to a long one. That is a truly staggering number, and something most men would have never assumed.

shock absorber

Why do women want a thicker penis? It matters that much for good sex?

Shock

Women want a thicker penis as opposed to a long one for two primary reasons. The first, and probably most important reason, is that most of their nerve endings are in the first few inches of their vaginal canal. As a consequence of this, having an especially long penis doesn't really do much because not many nerve endings are in the last few inches of the vagina. In addition, most women's vaginas are only 3-6 inches deep. So, if you have an 8 inch erection, you aren't even going to be using the whole thing.

A thicker penis can properly push out against the vaginal walls and fully stimulate the the majority of the nerves, creating a spine arching orgasm. The second reason that thickness is preferred over length is because a very long penis has one huge problem that women hate. And that problem is that it hits the cervic which is very painful, and causes some women to stop having intercourse. Thick penises don't hit the cervic, and of course, this is great for comfortable sex.

One of the most important aspects of thickness is that you don't need to be tall to get a thick penis. When women say that they like a long penis and that is the only thing that can satisfy them, they are under a false impression. A man with a longer penis is more likely to have a thicker penis as well, because he will just be a larger man physically. So what they are claiming to be length is actually thickness.

The 2 Worst Foods That Make You Fat - One May Shock You

The 2 fattening foods that I'm going to talk about in this article may actually shock you... most people falsely believe these 2 foods are "healthy".  In all of my years working as a Certified Nutrition Specialist, this usually surprises people when I mention they should consider eliminating these foods from their diet.

Everybody these days knows how bad trans fats and high fructose corn syrup are for you, so I figured I'd spare you yet another lecture on those... Instead, read on to see a couple foods that may shock you that they may be packing on the blubber.

Shock Me Like

The first type of food that is often falsely believed to be healthy is wheat products... this includes most breads, cereals, bagels, muffins, pasta, crackers, and so on.  And yes, I am including "whole wheat" in the category of this fattening food.

First of all, a large percentage of the population has some degree of intolerance to the gluten in wheat and some other grains. Full blown celiacs are the most sensitive to it, but what most people don't realize is that the majority of the population was never meant to eat large quantities of wheat.  The human digestive system has never adapted to large amounts of wheat in the diet.

The introduction of wheat into the human diet has only been in the last couple thousand years, and it has NEVER been in such large quantities in the human diet until the last 80-100 years.  This is a small time frame compared to the traditional diet that the human digestive system developed over several hundred thousand years eating a hunter-gatherer diet of meats, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.

From my experience with many of my clients, when they heed my advice and eliminate wheat from their diet for 2-3 weeks to see if they start to lose weight and feel better, this almost always makes a HUGE difference.  Many times, they not only start losing body fat much faster, but they also finally get rid of headaches and indigestion that has plagued them for years.  Sometimes even skin problems go away when eliminating wheat from the diet.

The 2nd example of the worst fattening foods that shocks many people because it is thought to be "healthy" is -- fruit juice

Don't get me wrong, I'm not an anti-carb advocate per se... I actually think most fruits are VERY healthy for us. However, we were NOT meant to separate the juice from the rest of the fruit and only drink the high calorie sugary mixture and leave behind the fiber and other beneficial components of the fruit.

When you only drink the juice of fruits (apple juice and orange juice being 2 of the worst culprits in the western diet), you are not getting the appetite satisfying effect of the fiber in the fruit, and you're left craving more carbs.  Also, the fiber in whole fruit helps to slow the blood sugar response when eating whole fruit compared to fruit juice.

Bottom line... overconsuming fruit juices makes you fat.  On the other hand, eating whole fruits including all of the fiber helps you maintain a healthy balanced diet and high nutrient density (as long as the rest of your diet is whole unprocessed foods as well).

How To Use A Dog Training Shock Collar

When it comes to dog training, shock collars can be an effective tool. However, they must be used properly and safely if you're going to train your dog with them. In this article, I will show you how to use shock collars to achieve this goal.

shocks

A shock collar is an electronic dog collar that will send a shock to the dog when they do something wrong. Most of these types of collars come with different levels of shocks that can be administered, and should be set properly for the size of the dog. A shock will be sent from the transmitter to the receiver of the dog's collar. You control the transmitter to send signals when your dog does something that you do not approve.

Shock

It's a simple idea -- any time the dog does something wrong, you send a shock to the dog. They might not figure it out the first time, but if they do the same thing again and get shocked, they might start to notice a pattern. If they do it three or four more times and receive a shock every time they have done that same behavior, then soon they will think that doing that behavior causes them to get shocked. Thus, they will stop doing that behavior.

An electronic shock collar can be used to stop many different kinds of misbehaviors in dogs, such as jumping up on furniture or visitors, digging holes in the backyard, chewing on things and so on.

It is important that you have your transmitter on you at all times so you can administer shocks immediately if the dog misbehaves. It is important that you start the shock at the lowest setting possible so you do not send too much electricity to the collar. If your dog is not responsive to the low shock then increase the settings on the collar.

If the dog starts to panic or becomes excessively loud after being shocked, then the chances are you have the shock level up to much. In this case, make sure to decrease it. You want to discipline your pet, not cause it to go into a panic.

It is important that the dog training shock collar be used to modify misbehavior and not aggressive behavior. Biting and attacking others is something that you will not correct with a simple electronic collar. In this case, a professional trainer may be needed.

1. Light a fire to belly fat with Hindu Squats

If you want a quick 3-5 minute exercise that burns off fat at a really HIGH RATE, do these. It's an intense exercise, but it's brief. This exercise is all about speed. The goal is simple. Non-stop body weight squats at home in 3-5 minutes. If you do these for 3 minutes, do at least 60 squats, if you do them for 5 minutes... do 100+ squats.

Basically, do at least 20 per minute.

What you do... squat up and down as fast as you can. Keep going... and going... and going, until the 3 or 5 minutes is up. Rest. You're done. This exercise is great for fat loss because of the big OXYGEN DEBT it creates within your body. The added oxygen adds "fuel to the fire" for the fat deposits.

Hypovolemic & Hemorrhagic Shock

Treatment for hemorrhagic shock focuses on identifying the cause and reversing it. If it is simply a lack of water volume, intravenous fluid administration can reverse the effects of fluid loss. If there is an underlying condition causing fluid to be excessively excreted from the body, then that is also corrected. Treatment of hemorrhagic shock centers on controlling the source of bleeding and, if necessary, blood transfusions can replenish the body of the red blood cells it lost. With chronic blood loss, the body learns to compensate and can perfuse the smaller capillary beds, but often the patient will have a reduced exercise tolerance or ability to exercise or even sometimes perform activities of daily living well without becoming symptomatic (Wedro, 2007).

shock doctor

In hypovolemic shock, intravenous infusions of fluid are administered to replace fluid/electrolyte losses. Sodium helps to keep the fluid in the intravascular space (Wikipedia, 2008). Giving too much "free water" or solutions without electrolytes in them will cause brain swelling as the excess fluid is shunted to the brain. Brain swelling causes increased cranial pressure and can lead to cell death. Blood loss of more than 20% must have blood replacement, while smaller losses of blood can simply be replaced with isotonic fluid replacement (Wikipedia, 2008). Hemorrhagic shock unresponsive to 2 L for adults (smaller amounts for children based on size) of crystalloid are often treated with blood infusion.

Shock

Vasopressor agents are not indicated for treatment of hemorrhagic shock unless other forms of shock are present such as cardiogenic, obstructive, or distributive shock (Weil, 2007). Replacement of proteins in the blood via the administration of albumin may also be helpful to increase blood pressure due to protein loss through membrane permeability. When metabolic acidosis is present, it is treated by reversing the source of lactic acid or pyruvic acid production by increasing perfusion and oxygen/glucose to the cells (Wikipedia, 2008).

How Do I Play Hard to Get With My Partner to Make Him Want Me More? 7 Tips You Can't Miss

Do you feel that you have been making it too easy for your partner to "get" you? Do you feel that this sort of behavior has made him take you for granted and he does not seem to want you as passionately as before? Here is just the answer for you! Take a look at these tactics that will help you become absolutely irresistible to him.

Don't take his calls for some time
It is a good idea to ignore his calls and don't jump to answer them for a while. He probably thinks that you are just waiting for his call, desperately wanting to hear him speak! Well, its time to give him a new message - one that says "I'm busy!" He is going to be pretty shocked to find that you have put him on hold! This will make him chase you harder.

Be seen with other males
If you were behaving like he was the only male guy on the planet and have allowed him to see you watch him with your tongue hanging out, it's no wonder that he has decided to place you on the sidelines for some time. Do the opposite and be seen with other guys. This will surprise him and he will hate to lose his favorite fan!

Don't jump at the chance of dating him
In case he condescends to ask you out - don't jump at the chance and look like you have been waiting all your life for him to date you. He will think no end of himself and wonder if you are too easy and fast for his liking. On the other hand if you take your own sweet time to agree, he may find you even more interesting and make him want you more.

Tell him you are busy on the weekend
If he has gotten too used to have you follow him like a puppy dog waiting for his pats and favors every weekend, give him a real shock by telling him that you are not free and are going to be too busy to see him this weekend. He will get curious about you and wonder if his charm is beginning to fade!

Go off on a holiday and send him pics
It is a great idea to take off into the blue and go off on a vacation! Let him stew a bit and wonder where in the world you have disappeared! The best way to let him find out is to send him pictures - in which you look like you are having a terrific time - and make him miss you dreadfully.

Lie low for some time after you've had a great date with him
A sure fire way to make him want you desperately is to go out on a date with him and make sure it was a great success in every way. Soon after that you should lie low and refuse to meet him for a while. This will make him wonder what went wrong, whether you really like him and he will want to know more about you.

Treat him like your other male friends
Don't make him see that you have butterflies in your stomach every time you see him. Treat him like you would treat your other friends if you find him beginning to take you for granted. Let him realize that if he did not do something about it, you could take off with someone else!
